It took a lot of thought as to what I would want to take. I would take the blanket my Grandmother made for me. My Father's leather tote bag that was given to me after his death and the emerald ring that he gave to me before he died.
In choosing one item it would be the emerald ring that my father gave to me.
Hi Joy,
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along the same lines. Material possessions will never take the place of family. That being said, items that belonged to our deceased loved ones have special memories connected to them. I, too, have some of my dad's possessions that remind me of him. I know that my dad is still with me in spirit. Sorry to hear of your loss.
I agree with both you and Lynn, Joy! I had a difficult time thinking of material items that I would bring with me as well. As long as I had my family with me I would survive anything. Without family by your side during difficult times makes things seem as if they are so much more harder facing alone. I really like the picture statement about family. I agree with its statement with "every growth comes unity and every trial comes strength." Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteJoy great post on your Family Culture. The statement that you posted about Our Family was very heart felt. The item you chose the emerald ring from your father was a loving gift. All gifts are special especially the ones you recieve from your father. The love between a father and daughter will always have a lasting impression.
ReplyDeleteHi Joy,
ReplyDeleteThis was hard to process especially when there is a loss in the family. I know material things should be the last thing on anyone mind, but I would take the ring too! Love the post. Tamarah
Hi Joy,
ReplyDeleteYour posting made me think about the fact that I am either, no longer sentimental about items in my life or I am hung up on my computer, internet access, and smart phone. Thank you for reminding me that I could also take the blanket my Grandmother made me when I was young, the "letter C" that my dad gave me for his "lettering" in swimming in high school and the painting by my brother that is so dear to me.
